Fractions are added or subtracted by rewriting both over a common denominator, then combining the numerators. Multiplication is simpler: multiply the numerators together and the denominators together.
Division works like multiplying by the reciprocal — flip the second fraction upside down and multiply. Every result here is simplified by dividing out the greatest common divisor, and improper fractions are also shown as mixed numbers.
Mixed numbers such as 1½ are supported: enter the whole part along with the numerator and denominator, and they are converted internally to improper fractions first.
